Kind Village engages the next generation of global leaders at One Young City

February 2, 2017

With the One Young World Summit bringing delegates from all over the world to Ottawa this past fall, Kind Village wanted to bring a local focus to this international and global focused youth conference. We wanted to show off what an amazing city Ottawa is, full of business and social impact leaders committed to social enterprise and community innovation. And so the One Young City external breakout session was created.

We wanted to encourage the students to embrace social good in their communities as they develop their own beliefs about the world they want to shape and the future they want to create. On September 30, 2016, student leaders from around the world gathered at The Stadium at TD Place. Over the course of the afternoon, our amazing and engaging panelists — all local leaders in the industries of food and beverage, sports, scientific discovery and arts and culture — shared their experiences and philosophies about how small changes can make a social impact in Ottawa and around the world.

The response was nothing short of amazing. Students thanked our panelists for their openness and asked insightful questions. They spoke about how much they related to the ideas being shared throughout the afternoon. They connected with our message and our vision for the world. Also at the event, we launched our Impact Tag, a social media movement to promote social good by posting videos and pictures stating the impact that you make in the world with the hashtag #MyKindOfImpact and encouraging your friends, family and fellow humans to do the same.

We were so proud to be a part of the One Young World summit, promote Ottawa, our city and connect with the bright young minds of the next generation.
